PANews reported on Sept. 27 that CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said the altcoin market is showing early warning signs of euphoria, suggesting the recent rally may not last. The warning follows a rapid rise in capital flowing into altcoins, with Ethereum included in the key market measure.
Total2 inflows show a fast change in sentiment
Darkfost pointed to Total2, a metric that represents the total market value of altcoins including Ethereum. Since June 2026, Total2 has absorbed more than $371 billion and increased 45% in just a few months. The scale of the inflow shows how quickly investors have turned toward the broader altcoin market.
Binance-listed altcoins move above key price trend
The same shift appears in the price behavior of Binance-listed altcoins. More of these assets have moved above their 200-day moving average, a level often used to judge whether an asset is trading above its medium-term trend.
In August, 80% of Binance-listed altcoins were below the 200-day moving average. That share has now fallen to 13%, meaning 87% of the tracked assets have shifted from a weaker trend into a bullish one.
Broad gains raise questions about sustainability
The change is not simply a single-asset move. The data shows a broad improvement across the Binance-listed altcoin market while Total2 continues to absorb large amounts of capital. That combination can strengthen confidence in the rally, but it also matches the pattern Darkfost described as an early warning: sudden, wide-based enthusiasm can make the trend vulnerable to a loss of momentum.
