Nearly 80% increase in NEAR's week, nearly $30 billion for Intents trading volume
NEAR Intents has reached $29.3 billion in cumulative transactions
The NEAR protocol is expanding privacy-related functionality for traders. Meanwhile, the cumulative trading volume of its on-chain intent trading system NEAR Intents has reached $29.3 billion, which includes Zcash swap transactions.
NEAR Intents topped $29.3 billion in sales
According to publicly disclosed data, the cumulative trading volume of NEAR Intents has reached $29.3 billion since its launch. The system allows users to complete cross-chain asset swaps in an intent manner, i.e., a user simply declares the desired outcome and is automatically matched by the system for execution paths.
Notably, Zcash is one of the exchanges involved in this cumulative transaction. Zcash was an older coin known for its privacy protections such as crypto asset , which combined with NEAR Intents meant that users could complete crypto-related transactions on the system.
Privacy features as a focus for expansion
As trading volume grows, NEAR is also continually adding privacy capabilities to the trading landscape. For traders, privacy features can reduce exposure of on-chain operations and decrease the likelihood that address behavior will be tracked in its entirety.
Demand for privacy infrastructure has been increasing in recent years within the industry, with some users wanting to retain more operational autonomy in an open on-chain environment. NEAR combines privacy features with intent trading systems to provide a product-based pathway for this demand.
Balancing Privacy and Compliance
The expansion of privacy features is often accompanied by discussions at the compliance level. Privacy assets such as Zcash have previously faced pressure to be delisted from exchanges in some jurisdictions, with inconsistent regulatory attitudes.
NEAR's current disclosures focus mainly on the functional and transaction data levels, with no specific regulatory arrangements in place yet. The boundaries of subsequent privacy features in actual use are still to be observed for changes between parties to the agreement and the regulatory environment.
