The CME Group announced on Tuesday that it plans to launch Bitcoin Cash ( BCH ) and Uniswap (UNI) futures contract on October 19, pending regulatory review. If approved, the two assets will become new members of its regulated crypto derivatives system, allowing institutions and retail traders to hedge against price risks for these two mainstream altcoin s in a compliant environment.

Two sizes to accommodate different funding levels

The new contracts coming online offer both standard and micro sizes. Bitcoin Cash futures represent 250 units of the Standard Contract, BCH Micro represents 25 units; Uniswap Futures cover 10,000 UNI, while Micro covers 1,000 units. This tiered design reduces participation thresholds for small funds accounts.

In terms of operations, Bitcoin Cash is currently reporting $338, up more than 25% in one day to about $6 billion; market cap reports $9.28, up 5.5 percent over 24 hours to about $57.5 billion.

In the background, Bitcoin Cash was forked from Bitcoin in 2017 to host larger blocks with lower cost payments; and Uniswap is currently the largest of these: DEX , UNI as governance token , where holders can vote on protocol upgrades rather than receive dividends.

BCH and UNI are expanding the altcoin product line for the first time this year. In February, the exchange launched Cardano , Chainlink and Stellar contracts; in April it announced the launch of Avalanche with Sui futures, which went public on May 4. Adding to its previously existing Bitcoin , Ethereum , XRP and Solana crypto-futures matrix has already begun to scale.

The effects of the expansion strategy are already being seen. According to a press release, five varieties launched in 2026, namely Cardano , Chainlink , Stellar, Avalanche and Sui, have surpassed $1 billion in nominal transactions since the beginning of the year. For the entire crypto-currency sector, 279,800 futures and options contracts were traded daily during the first half of 2026 with a nominal value of $8.3 billion; the average open position contract was about 264,600 at a nominal price of $15.4 billion.

Giovanni Vicioso, global head of crypto products at Chipotle said in a statement that as the cryptocurrency market matures and participants need more regulated tools to deal with digital asset price risk, new contracts have advantages in terms of capital efficiency and around-the-clock regulatory trading environment.

Justin Young, co-founder and CEO of issuer Volatility Shares believes this is another important step in the ongoing expansion of crypto futures products by Chevron. Noel Kimmel, president of prime brokerage at Ripple, noted that institutions managing crypto pockets need a set of regulated derivatives available 24/7, as well as clearing and financing infrastructure. The company has received $200 million in funding to expand its lending capabilities in May following Ripple's acquisition of Hidden Road in 2025.
