PANews reported on September 28 that Compound community member ugurmersin accused the Compound Foundation of improperly using the v2 DAI reserve. The post says Proposal 536 in February placed 8.42 million DAI from the Decentralized Autonomous Organization reserve under the foundation's management, with conditions that the funds be used only to support protocol operations, not for autonomous trading or speculation, remain fully owned by the Decentralized Autonomous Organization, and not fund foundation-specific operations.

On-chain path from DAI to COMP

According to the post, on-chain records show that the DAI was sent to an exchange and converted into 344,780 COMP. The COMP was then delegated to the foundation's own voting address. The delegation was reversed 58 minutes before the deadline of Proposals 580 and 582.

Governance effect alleged by the accuser

The accuser says the foundation used the voting power to push for transferring nearly all Decentralized Autonomous Organization funds to TMC and to advance a $52 million V4 plan. The post also describes the foundation as one of the TMC signers.

Why the claim matters

The accusation centers on whether reserve tokens can be converted into governance voting power while the stated conditions prohibit speculative use and foundation-specific funding. If the claim is accurate, it raises questions about oversight of delegated governance tokens and the boundary between operational support and governance influence.
