TASS, citing a speech by the Prime Minister of Russia , reported that the digital ruble has been available for trading in Russia since September 1st. Mishuskin said this was part of the strategy to create a convenient, fast and independent payment infrastructure within Russia .

On the same day, a law was signed by President Putin which Mishuskin said made it legal to circulate cryptocurrency in Russia as of September 1st.

Cryptocurrency legislation pushed through with caps on retail transactions
